Kids and dogs are worth every crumb. Here's how to keep the mess from winning.
Daily habits
- A bag in every door. Wrappers go in, bag comes out at every fill-up.
- Snacks that don't crumble. Cheese strings over crackers. Water over juice.
- Wipes in the glovebox for sticky hands and quick spills.
- Rubber mats in winter. They hold slush and salt, and they hose off.
Car seats
- Crumbs hide under and behind the seat. Lift it out and vacuum underneath once a month.
- Follow your car seat's manual for cleaning the straps. Harsh cleaners can weaken harness webbing.
- Check the expiry date on the seat's label. In Canada, seats have one.
- Our Child Car Seat Deep Clean ($45 per seat) is fabric-safe and gets the harness straps and buckles too.
Pets
- A seat cover or old blanket for the dog saves the upholstery.
- Pet hair weaves into carpet. A rubber brush or glove lifts it better than a vacuum alone.
- Towel off wet, muddy paws before they jump in.
- Crack a window on short trips to keep the smell from settling in.
Smells
- Start by finding the source: spilled milk under a seat, a forgotten lunch, a damp mat.
- Air fresheners just cover a smell. A deep clean removes it.
When it gets ahead of you, The Family Reset handles stains, crumbs, buckles and smells, and includes 1 car seat clean.
